Alphabet Animation

This is another project where I combined my two words of design and teaching into one piece. Here I took the alphabet and animated it with words. I truly enjoyed every minute of creating this, from choosing the color palette to each scene, to the typography. I loved it all!

When starting this project, this idea of the alphabet came about and stuck. This was due to it being related to one of my passions, children. I love children and being around them especially the little ones. I wanted to do something that children can watch over and over again, but to learn something out of it. This is when I came up with the idea to animate the alphabet.

I started by storyboarding, but in a different layout than the norm. I listed the alphabet letter by letter and wrote out what I wanted to animate for that letter. I wanted it to be engaging with fun colors and animations.

I started on creating the items on that list starting with A. I went letter by letter and once one letter was complete I put it into After Effects and started animating it. I continued this pattern for the rest of the project.

Although, there was one specific hiccup along the way which was choosing the correct typeface. I wanted something fun and exciting so I started brainstorming the different typefaces I could use. I picked one for the title frame and one for the rest of the composition. After finding the correct typefaces to use I continued to create my animations and the layout of my design.

This project was a fun one for me because it allowed me to merge two of my favorite things, children and graphic (motion) design. Yes, in the beginning, I was not quite sure where to begin but I am so happy with what the outcome was. I am very proud of this piece and I had fun creating it.
